I've Been Thinking...

It's hard to believe it's Christmas again. (Have you ever noticed that the older you get the faster these holidays come around?)

This is a time when all of us, in so many different ways, give celebration to the birth of our Lord Jesus, the Christ.
Let us remember He is always with us - Emmanuel!

I want to say a word of celebration to you this holiday season. To me, each of you is a great gift in our community. I was just thinking about all of you who give and serve "as unto the Lord." I wish I could list each of you, my friends, but you know who you are: Monday night servants, Tuesday grief companions, Sunday fellowship participants, and the teams of you who bring all the events to life; not to mention how so many of you can be found every day of the week giving one-to-one counsel or help as you travel through your days and weeks. Thank You and may your Christmas be blessed.

I want to mention one more person who is doing something rather out-of-the-ordinary this Christmas season. Ethie is taking a three week trip to her birthplace, Ethiopia, to explore mission connections and possibly a "God calling" for her - and perhaps even our community. Please keep her in your prayers these coming weeks. On December 20th, during Breakfast Club at our house, we will share in a commissioning service to send her on her way with our prayers and support, in confidence of faith that God will protect and bless her with His presence on her journey.

Thankful for you and for the One who came,
Greg

MONDAY NIGHTS IN DECEMBER
"The Power and Gifts of the Holy Spirit"

We've been having a great time discussing the Gifts of the Spirit, haven't we? There is so much that our Father has to give us if we will embrace it. The Gifts empower us to live and witness to our faith and life in Christ.

Monday Evenings at
Peace Lutheran Church
18265 N 89th Ave., Peoria 85382

Dec. 7   Tongues, Interpretation of Tongues & Prophesy
These are probably the most misunderstood gifts of the Spirit. They have often caused division within the church. Let's talk about them. Potluck dinner begins at 6:30 PM on this night; class  begins at 7:15 PM.

Dec. 14   Small Group Night
Men - Meet in the Peace Lutheran parking lot at 6:00 PM for dinner out and a good "manly" discussion.
Women - Meet at Enid's house at 7:00 PM for Bible Study, "Moving Beyond the Myths." (Need directions? Call Jeane at 602-622-0019)

Dec. 21   Christmas Dinner
Carrie is providing 3 turkeys (WOW!) and we'll all chip in to bring the trimmings. The tables will be draped and decorated so we can celebrate this meal together before we scatter for Christmas. Sign up to bring your favorite Christmas dish; then please arrive between 6:30 - 6:45 PM with your food. We'll eat at 7:00 PM followed by some words from Greg, and maybe even a Christmas carol or two before we adjourn!

Dec. 28   No Class Tonite
Take a break and we'll see you on January 4th, when we will pick up on the last three Gifts of the Spirit: Wisdom, Knowledge & Discernment.
